Donn Garrett Place of Birth: Brewster, WA
Musical Education: Donn studied guitar at 10 years old before joining Jr High Band at
age 11 where he discovered a love for drums. As an adult he has taken Master Classes
with Alan White, Steve Smith, Kenny Aronoff, Gregg Bissonette, and Liberty Devito.
He also taken private lessons with “Heart”, “Alias”and Richard Marx drummer Michael
Derosior. Donn has also studied vocals, piano and music theory while in college and
lead guitar with local virtuoso Grant Gittins.
Personal Music Influence: His main influences early on were: Elvis and The Beatles
then bands and artists like Deep Purple, Bad Company, Kansas, Rush, The Who, Billy
Joel, Elton John,Robin Trower, Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Jim Croce Paco DeLucia ,
Al DiMeola, Carlos Santana, Eric Johnson, Billy Cobham, and too many to list.
Projects: Donn’s profesional career began at 16 with “Tempest” a cover rock band. He
has performed extensively up and down the Western States in bands ranging from
Country Rock, Power Trios, Production Top 40, R&B , POP and Blues, opening for
bands such as John Cafferty, Tommy Tutone and The Knack. He has recorded with
John Raymond of Kenny G, Gerald Lee Ames, Monty Smith and WorldTime. Donn
has been heard on KISW, KBSG, KKZX and has appeared on KIRO 7 Profiles and
KING 5 with YES drummer Alan White as well as a performance at The Seahakws
Halftime Show with Scott Rockenfield, Jeff Kathan, Reek Havok and Alan White.
Donn has been involved with “WoodStick”, setting up kits for the best drummers in the
biz. Donn was the Stage manger for Woodstick 07.
Current Status: He is the founding member of “Common Ground"and will be
performing live events in the Seattle area. He is also in “Petty Thief” www.myspace.
com/pettythiefrocks a Tom Petty Tribute and is a top on-call drummer filling in with
many local acts, such as HiWatt www.hiwattrocks.com ,Gray Sky Fallin and Union
Jack. Recently finished drum tracks for the forthcoming “Walk Through Fire” cd with
