Meet Donn Garrett
My Story
- Started singing as soon as I could speak and picked up guitar at 10.
- Began playing drums in 6th grade at 11 years old inspired by Ringo Starr.
- Early on playing in Jr. High Band under the direction of Gary Van Dusen.
- We performed: pep rallies, games, concerts and parades.
- My first Rock Band "Tempest" at 16. We performed a High School and Motor Speedway.
- After High School I attended college to study music and business.
- After college I travelled extensively with Production Top 40 Acts all up and down the West Coast including Alaska.
- Attended every Clinic and Master Class possible I could including Jim Chapin, Les DeMerle, Alan White, Dom Famularo to name a few.
- Studied privately with original HEART Drummer Michael Derosier.
- My drumming spans many styles, Rock, Prog Rock, Country, Blues, Pop, R&B and Folk Rock.
- Courses I teach: Metronome Mastery and The Singing/Drummer.
- Current Endorsements include: Mapex Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Creative Percussion, KickPort and Collisions Drumsticks [in the works].
- Three Albums I have released: Between Home and Here, Brilliant Mis-Takes and "Retouched" Classics by the Masters feat world class musicians.
- Owner of the legendary drummer event "Woodstick". I have been involved since the first event in 2003 and owner since 2024
